Fisher House Foundation, Inc., an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) charity, administers the Scholarships for Military Children program. Commissary business partners and others donate to Fisher House Foundation, Inc., which treats each contribution as a “restricted donation.” Fisher House Foundation, in turn, contracts with “Scholarship Managers,” a professional scholarship management firm, to evaluate the applications and select the best qualified as recipients.

Every dollar received is given out as a scholarship grant. Additionally, Fisher House Foundation matches all donations, dollar for dollar, and does not charge for its services, to include the costs of administration and the cost of the scholarship management contract. For school year 2021-22, there will be 500 recipients selected, and each will receive a $2,000 scholarship grant.

What this means is that a $10,000 donation, for example, will sponsor ten scholarship recipients, each receiving a $2,000 scholarship grant.
